Rev. Delbert Mueller of Jackson, Missouri, purchased a steeple for his church on eBay for just 99 cents! Though the Playboy Mansion sold, Hugh Hefner is allowed to continue living there for the rest of his life! The 9000-year-old Italian caves of Sassi Di Matera in Basilicata are still inhabited!

Mr. Hefner will want to keep the new owners happy or the term “rest of his life” may come into play sooner rather than later!

The old Kemper building in Chicago was sold to a charitable group for a dollar. This was probably a huge tax deduction for Kemper.

Just tell me the inhabitants don’t live like cavemen.

Hugh Hefner may have simply retained a life estate in the property. It allows the buyers to pay a lower price with the offset being the delay before possession. Not unusual.

Originally Hugh Hefner didn’t own the Mansion; Playboy Enterprises did. Hefner paid a formal rent of $100/year to live there. It would have been awfully expensive for him to own it outright, but for the company it was probably a tax deduction as a business expense. I wonder what rent agreement exists now?
