Voters in Cormorant, Minnesota, elected a 7 -year-old dog, Duke, as the town's mayor in 2014! Seeing double! In November 2014, twin brothers Rob and John Snaza were elected sheriffs in neighboring Southwest Washington counties! Unrelated to Ernest Hemingway, Dave Hemingway won the 36th Annual Ernest Hemingway look-alike contest in Key West, Florida!

Sheriff Rob is in Lewis County where I used to live (I was there 1992-2012; I’m currently in Clark County since 2012); Sheriff John is in Thurston County where state capital city Olympia is.

Rob could go to Thurston county, beat up suspects and John would get the blame. And vice versa.

Why does the medal say “Sloppy Joes?”
Radish the wordsmith about 8 years ago
Duke should run for president.

The medal says “Sloppy Joes” because that is where the contest is held.

Chad – the award says Sloppy Joes because that is the name of the bar that Ernest Hemingway was always hanging out at. The bar is still in Key West as well as the table and chair that Ernest sat in. Interesting open air bar.

Better choice than what we currently have – can I be Duke’s campaign manager?
comixbomix about 8 years ago
That’s 49 in mayor years…

Apparently Dog as mayor is not uncommon. When I lived in Sunol, Ca back in ’91 the mayor was a black lab mix named Bosco Ramos.
