Stig Severinsen held his breath for 22 minutes underwater- in 2012. Miniature guillotine toys the decapitated dolls were popular with children during the French Revolution. Out of 11 babies born at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital, Montana, on July 22, 2015, more than half were made up of three sets of twins.

Girl in the guillotine bit is reminding me a bit of Wednesday Addams. As for the births at that Montana hospital, I wonder if the kids will hold birthday parties together for that interesting feat.

Back in the ’60s I knew a family that had 8 kids in 3 years. They had 2 sets of triplets and 1 set of twins.

He actually died at minute 18, but no one realized it till 4 minutes later.

3 sets of twins is 6 babies, which is more than half of 11. You would think that could have been reworded more clearly.

As for the idea of Wednesday Adams owning a guillotine – perish the thought. She had a real one – watch Adams Family Values.

It appears that the air pressure blew off the top of Stig’s head.

I want one of those toys for Christmas!

The holding your breath thing has been done before and, as the yogis do, you need to slow your metabolic rate, heart rate, etc so you are not actually starving for oxygen.

Definitely Wednesday Addams as she was often seen playing with a headless doll wearing a dress like hers.

At least one of them was Marie Antoinette. The horrors of the failure of the French Revolution, the only freedom was to murder anyone they picked up. Almost got Thomas Paine murdered by the state. What could have happened in the United States, but didn’t.

They were popular with Wednesday Adams too.

Did Stig survive?
Eugeno almost 8 years ago
Stig did survive, else it likely would not have been reported. Part of the ‘method’ is to be submerged in very cold water, which the body compensates for by increasing blood flow to the brain. Extreme free divers have descended as far as 600’, with no after-effects, as long as they come back up slowly enough, but I don’t think the time involved exceeded 20 mins. Using only a guide line, with depth indicators, they have to go down fairly quickly, so their return to the surface can be regulated.

Extreme free diving record is at 214 meters – only took about five minutes – there are other challenges besides holding one’s breath …
