For those who wonder why the 420 mile marker was so popular as an object of theft, 420 is big in “cannabis culture”.

That’s what happened to Julius Caesar. His friend asked him which chips he wanted, and he said “A-2, Brute.”

But the difference between being killed by a vending machine and a shark is that you can easily avoid death-by-vending-machine by not being stupid.

During my college years I once killed coke machine that didn’t give me a drink. The sign that said “Have a Nice Day!” after not giving me my drink pushed me over the edge. I tore the machine apart and gave everyone free cokes. I had to pay for the repairs; $50 which back in 72 was a lot of money. Still, it felt great.

Big tunnels, but it took over a thousand years for them to make just one.

Not surprising that it occurred in Colorado.

Love the shark behind the vending machine. Somewhere in Japan they have that, I’m sure.

Feral vending machines are quite dangerous. South American vending machines sometimes make homes in the old giant slot tunnels.

We had a street sign here “Honey Suckle”. They finally made it one word after several years.

Ya, I remember a vending machine almost killed me. When I was a kid, I thought it was easy money, so I tried to break into it. Missed me by a hair. Never tried it again.

RE mile marker 420…Yes it has to do with marijuana in that culture; however, in the white supremacist neo- Nazi sub culture it referred to old uncle Adolph’s birthday. April 20th

The Waldos designated the Louis Pasteur statue on the grounds of San Rafael High School as their meeting place, and 4:20 p.m. as their meeting time.9 The Waldos referred to this plan with the phrase “4:20 Louis”. After several failed attempts to find the crop, the group eventually shortened their phrase to simply “4:20”, which ultimately evolved into a codeword that the teens used to mean consuming cannabis

I stopped for a picture with the 419.99 mile marker coming back from a vacation in Colorado. I WOULD have stolen it if it hadn’t been broad daylight. I like to imagine that stoners show up to steal the 420 sign, stop at the 419.99 one, walk 0.01 miles past it, find nothing, and go home, figuring some other stoners beat them to it.
