I remember back when I could look down in the comments to find more details about a Ripley’s post, now all I can find are posts totally off the subject. Some of the posts are good and funny, but they have nothing to do with the Ripley’s posts. It’d be nice if they had a separate comment section for just these off topic comments.
My Dad took my late brother and me to see John Glenn’s space capsule at the Science Museum in London when it was brought over on a tour. It was a memorable evening. The queues were very long but we eventually reached the display. I was struck by how little space there was inside the capsule.
I saw the sun set 3 times in an OH58 helicopter. Take off fly west about 500 ft AGL watch sun set, climb 2000 ft, watch the sun set, climb another 2000 ft watch again. you could keep doing this until you ran out of fuel or reached the service ceiling of your aircraft. Every time you climb you can see farther to the horizon.
How is the record for heaviest person to finish a marathon verifiable? To my recollection, I have never been asked about my weight when entering a race. I imagine it is the same for most runners. What race organizers think about finding the heaviest runners?

It’s a good thing the cicadas didn’t have toll fare to cross the bridge.

They are late with the cicadas news.
It’s noisy outside.

R.I.P. John Glenn, who helped lead us into space. You gotta wonder what he would have said about the current operations of the Space Force.
Whatever damage cicadas do, it doesn’t last and there’s a 17 year break between. Societal problems repeat almost daily and do a lot more damage.
Rare one sees a person that size who is in physical condition to even stand up, much less run nearly 30 miles. He’s has earned the notice.

Glenn, though, was not the first human to orbit the earth.

Yeah but he was finishing last year’s marathon.
Take care, may famed cardiac surgeon Dr. Michael O’Macord be with you, and gesundheit.

What did Charles weigh when he started the marathon? I would think he would have dropped at least some water weight over the length of the race.

Cicadas are the sound of summer.
The Marine saw the sun rise 5 times in one day.
Charles started the marathon at 483 pounds.
