How big is the United States’ other giant library — the Library of Congress — compared to the New York Public Library concerning the number of books and items?

I’ve been inside the NYPL, and even just in the publically-accessible part of the one main building, it’s big enough to get lost in.

The Library of Congress is an unparalleled world resource. The collection of more than 173 million items includes more than 51 million cataloged books and other print materials in 470 languages; more than 75 million manuscripts; the largest rare book collection in North America; and the world’s largest collection of legal materials, films, maps, sheet music and sound recordings.

What the heck is the purpose of the Storm Trooper body armor? Have you EVER seen one stop or deflect even one blaster shot?

HOLLYWOOD STORY/WW2 film "ACTION IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC

There was a scene where Humphrey Bogart and Raymond Massey had to jump off a bridge into a body of water that had an oil fire on it.

The stars got into a loud argument about whose stand-in was the bravest, and the settled it by doing the stunt themselves.

Both men had their eyebrows burned off.

At a urinal in the main branch of the New York City Public Library, two men, stood side by side urinating.

“Sorry sir, but do you happen to be of the Jewish faith?” asks one.

    “Erh… yes I am.”

    “Are you from Krakow?”

    “Yes.”

The man continues with more questions:. “And did you always go to the small synagogue on Lipowitz Street?”

“Yes, do we know each other?”

“I don’t think so. But you were born between 1970 and 1980?”

“Yes, could you finally tell me where we met?”

“We have not met, sir. But in the small synagogue on Lipowitz Street in Krakow, Rabbi Goldberg was responsible for the bris in between 1970 and 1980. And the good Rabbi never managed to make a clean cut. And you’re pissing on my shoes”.

    Until next time.

The Farmer had a problem – how to carry his entire purchases home. An old lady agrees to help him. On the way he says ’Let’s take my short cut and go down this alley. We’ll be there in no time. The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, ‘I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won’t hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?’

The farmer said, ‘Holy smokes lady! I’m carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?’ The old lady replied, ‘Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I’ll hold the chickens.

Well, the New York Public Library is still one volume short until Seinfeld returns his copy of “Tropic of Cancer”.

Regarding the James Webb Space Telescope that was previously featured on RBION, it has been struck by a larger than expected micrometeorite.
