I have one that magically appears every time I lie down on the couch. She then insinuates herself between my face and the object of interest I am holding (usually a book or my Game Boy). The other one will wake me up by sticking her head underneath my hand, hint hint. . .
If I happen to be at the computer, then my cat will curl up between my back and the back of the chair, and I will rub his head while my youngest sister will try to find him.
My cat is standing here on the arm of my chair right now staring at me & bumping my hand as I type. Usually I can get him to lay down next to me & as long as I flip him on his back I can keep his head off the keyboard (laptop). No matter how empty my husband’s lap is or how convincingly he calls to him, I am the lap of choice, no matter how full mine is LOL. Also with a completely empty king sized bed, he chooses to sleep right next to my head.
i read with my book lying in my lap sitting in a chair and my sister’s cat usually jumps right on top of the book, magazine.. whatever. My cat prefers to get in between me and anything I am eating.
One of the very few mistakes in cat culture in this strip. Maybe the only one. Mine will climb into my lap while I’m working at the laptop which is on a swing platform above my lap, and lie across my right arm. If I don’t pay attention to her, she will sit up and pat me on the cheek. If I still don’t pay attention, she’ll rise up and give me a little love bite on my nose. Loud Siamese purrs the whole time.
I’m so glad to see that I’m not the only one owned by a cat. Mine gets onto the arm of my chair and puts her paw behind me as if she’s pusing me out of the chair. LOL.
My cat wouldn’t lie on my lap, but she would curl up beside me in the chair and then begin to expand until she had taken over the whole chair and I had found another place to sit.Bedtime was different. After I turned out the lights, she would jump up on the foot of the bed, walk to the pillow (How a light-footed cat can stomp when walking on a matress is a great mystery), and curl up around the top of my head. She would start to purr (a Siamese diesel-truck purr), and I wuld pet her until we both fell asleep—a quite nice way to fall asleep.

‘Ohm’ okay with ’the lap of least resistance, but I agree with the commenters. Often it is not the way the comic presents it.

@Aaron,That’s a perceptive analogy!“Ahhh, this porridge is just right,” she said happily, and she ate it all up.

Have you met cats? There’s probably one sitting on your keyboard right now if you want to check…

A grown cat, however, looks for the least convenient lap.

Awww, this makes me miss my kitty so much! And I have developed severe allergies, so I can’t even get a new one.

More like the lap of most annoyance. Whoever is reading or working on the laptop…THAT is the chosen lap.
