My mom never chopped wood in my life time, but she also never stopped moving, cleaning, cooking, straightening. It was as if the world just wasn’t quite right somehow and she could make it work. We had a family story about how she was such a vigorous duster, that when Dad drove her down the half mile dirt road to our house, the dust never bothered to rise. I am sure she and MeeMaw would have been good friends. R.I.P. Mom
I have split a little bit of wood in my youth, but not anything near enough for winter stove use. Usually just campfire use. However, once I retire, I will start doing it (slowly to build up endurance and strength). For the bigger stuff, I intend to get a mechanical log splitter, but for kindling, I will do by hand. And will watch my fingers very carefully. I want to keep all of them. LOL

But watch it all break loose if Mee Maw tries to do the trash ritual.

There is as much work setting up the logs and stacking the split wood as in the splitting. It goes faster if you have a production team.

I have been looking at rocket heaters around the web block and they seem to be an efficient use of wood. Plenty of how-to-build vids too.

Meemaw should share the fun and let Jimbo go first. I doubt it would take long before he gets tired.

Meema is too happy and enjoying the act. She would not let the axe.

And Meemaw’s daughter is the same way with her ‘energy level’ !! Why do you think Jimbo is writing those love letters to Rose??
