If they don’t want a lot of choices they should go to In-N-Out.

I don’t mind a diner with a 20-page menu (having grown up in New Jersey, places like that remind me of home!). Although I usually skip most of it and just get some kind of baked pasta dish :-).

A counter-service restaurant with 20 pages of items posted all over the walls, on the other hand, is really confusing. There are a few places like that near me. I can’t visit them – I’m in no frame of mind to figure out such a restaurant when I’m hungry, and I’m not going to walk in when I’m not.

A surfeit of food choices. A textbook example of a first world problem.

There’s a reality show (no, I don’t watch the danged things) that helps owners fix their restaurants. One of the items is to reduce your menu selections to prevent this very thing.

Throw a dart at the menu and order where it sticks.

Never go to a restaurant that tries to serve all thing for all people: none of it will be very good and it will all be way overpriced to pay for all the waste.

This is why the Menus at most fast food joints give you only 6 choices, Max.

The host is very enterprising. She is going to go far with this attitude.

The one thing common to high-choice restaurants is moldy food.

I’ve noticed that a number of sit down restaurants have pared down the number of things on their menu. Give people too much choice and they’ll sit there arguing with themselves over what to order.
