I’ve tried giving various things to birds and small wildlife. Results varied. Despite their obvious fondness for such fruits as bananas, watermelons, and mandarins, grackles don’t even recognize pitted dates as food. And when I offered Takis to assorted wild poultry, the chickens loved them (the baby chicks practically swarmed the car), the peacocks accepted them unenthusiastically, and the guinea fowl — again — didn’t seem to realize they were something meant to be eaten.
Three degrees of self mastery: The Beginners runs around in pure joy because they don’t know any better. At the Journeyman level the person is full of dread and woe because they know all the things that could go wrong. The Master run around in pure joy because they know that no matter what happens they will still be themselves so it doesn’t matter.
I feed peanuts to the squirrels every morning and have recently started tossing a walnut to any who are out there waiting when I open the window. Some eagerly snatch the walnuts; others seem skeptical about them.

Pure joy! I experienced that for awhile yesterday. Just couldn’t express my delight with physical abandon, like Pasquale does!

I have a feeling that Pasquale’s happiness is about to end soon.
