I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over the snoring of the voices in my head.

Every time I post a comment in a volatile atmosphere on a topic with polarized viewpoints, I lose a percentage of my cognitive ability to ongoing defense of something stupid I said.

It really does explain a lot.

To say nothing of the people who deliberately misinterpret you to make points with an in group or just put to put you on defensive footing.

The “we can do this” voices get drown out by the “that failed last time” voices.

You fore-brain forms last and starts to shrink first. It doesn’t impair cognition, but it does stop functioning as a bulwark against you blabbing something you would never say before, it just comes out. When the grand parents become a liability when they start saying things you never heard out of them before.
