At first I thought it was like “Death for Dummies.” Hey, I’d buy that one. Wait, I assume there’s no book by that name? Damn, there is. How about “Damnation for Dummies”? Whoops. “Dummies for Dummies”? I give up.
Not far from it. Authors will sometimes buy their own books from certain markets to prime the pump for sales and artificially inflate sales figures. “Best-sellers” are often contrived rather than honestly measured. The death of books, indeed.
I read in the paper, and on line, that the sale of e-books has now gone down. The sale of “real” books has increased on line rather than in book stores. However, used book stores are doing well, and some local bookstores are making a come back. The big box book stores killed each other off, and opend the door for independent book stores to return
