Thought I wanted a career, turned out I just wanted a pay check…

True story: I once interviewed a woman who told me she didn’t really want the job; she was just required by her unemployment case worker to apply for a certain amount of jobs each month to keep her benefits. Naturally, I called her case worker.

I often say, “No one’s going to pay me to sit on the couch and watch Jane Austen movies, so I do the next best thing.”
