The others in the group are on to his game, and make up ludicrous nonsensical plot lines that he repeats to others, to seem as if he read the books,

And the wine. Don’t forget about the wine.

I would read the book.

Just buy the button and the t-shirt. Carrying a book around wouldn’t hurt.

The longer the book, the less likely everyone will read them.

“The sky is falling! The sky is falling!!!!!!!” What? That’s the only book he’s read! :)

I’ve never joined the club. I just read the books.

Just drink wine and exchange gossip. That’s what everyone else does.
