Impetigo affects the face, not your claw or the toe of the man who was pinched. One of my mother’s warnings I remember well was to avoid drinking from water fountains (bubblers) because they spread impetigo. We never got it, but mom always had a bottle of Gentian Violet in the medicine cabinet, just in case. This is back in the 50s, when every medicine cabinet also had a bottle of Merthiolate for cuts and scratches. Merthiolate was taken off the market on the 1970’s because it contained mercury.
