You know, French toast is a very, very old dish, though under assumed names. :-) It turns up in several medieval cookbooks (mostly French and English) and my favorite version has a bit of rose water added to the egg batter. Oh my, is that tasty!
No Shoe, in that case the eggs, butter and everything else including coffee and sugar would be an artifical chemical substitute, and your ration would be one half. Been there.
Somehow I have doubts about that story… I never saw it except in US media, and saying that France is importing cheese is like saying that Tennessee is importing whiskey!
