The assumption is implied that taking money from someone obligates a politician to do whatever that donor wants. That is incorrect. When someone gives money to a politician, they are doing so because they believe that they will do what the donor want done, based on public statements, or because they like their eyes, or whatever other reason they might have. The politician is under no obligation to do so, in fact, it is illegal for them to obligate themselves to donors as a direct deal.
So, if I read the strip correctly, the Senator is being criticized for NOT letting himself be bought? When did Shoe become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Koch Industries?
It’s more like a dozen and a half liberal billionaires contributing to liberal pols but who’s counting? The ‘Senator from Chappaquiddick’, and the last I heard the Koch Brothers also contributed to Harry Reid among some other lefties. Take THAT puddleglum1066!!!!
