Changing the channel here; years ago, a Senator or Congressman or somebody important, kept being late for meetings because he was delayed by drawbridge traffic. He managed to get funding to have a higher bridge built over the river, eliminating the need for the drawbridge. After a very lengthy time, it was complete. It is the Kilwaulkee bridge. (In Michigan’s lower peninsula.)
