The real sad part of corporate executive’s obsession of profit is that they have lost touch with an essential truth. In the past companies focused on a mission and reaped profits as a result of that mission. Now executives focus on SHORT TERM profit and gut the very things that helped make them successful in the long run. I’ve been watching this happen to the Boeing Company since its merger with McDonnell Douglas in 97. They picked up a toxic management from McDonnell and have been falling apart ever since. The troubles of the 787 Dreamliner are hardly surprising.
