A state college I went to in CA used social security numbers as student ID numbers for a while. I loved registration because my SS# was issued in Illinois and the first 3 digits identify where tha card was issued. The school set up 10 stations taking the entire number as a number rather than a code. My 342 landed me at a table with almost no line. Privacy concerns made them change to abstract numbers and the lines were more equally distributed.

In high school we played against a school from a town pioneered by Dutch settlers. Their roster started with Van A… and went through Van Zee.
