Our cat not only comes when we call, but goes on walks with us. But she follows us in a very catlike manner, sprinting under a car, then under a bush, alternately falling behind, dashing ahead, and weaving between lawn and sidewalk. When she drinks water, she doesn’t lap – she dips her paw and licks it, keeping careful watch during the whole process. I’m reminded of Gideon’s 300 (soldiers who lapped water, instead of scooping with their hands so they could keep watch, were sent home).
