I’m with Tank: it is about the game for me, not individual stats!

You will still follow your own team, but develop great angst when you own an opposing player that you need points from on a given game.

Something like the old Strat-O-Matic (does anybody remember that?) was fun and made far more sense to me than picking potential statistics, which is what fantasy football seems to boil down to.

I used to work with a fantasy leaguer who insisted the Seahawks were coming out ahead by signing second-tier WR Nate Burleson from Minnesota after the Vikings signed Seattle’s All-Pro O-liner Steve Hutchinson because Burleson could catch passes while all Hutch could do was block. I tried explaining that it’s hard catching passes from a quarterback who was on his back staring up at the clouds after getting sacked, but I don’t think it registered.

I agree. I’m not now, or have ever been, in any kind of fantasy sports league. I like keeping what few brain cells I have from frying.

So . . . what would Tank think about fantasy cycling teams, where competitors’ point totals are based on how their chosen cyclists do on each stage of a tour?
