I like the alliteration in the first panel. After the long run, Tarzan’s thews trembled terribly, while Tantor’s trunk turned toward Hemu. A little alliteration goes a long way, doesn’t it?

If Hemu really wanted to get Tantor mad, he should have snuck up to him and tickled him.

Hemu, we need your DOB for the tombstone.

Tantor isn’t the only Dumbo in this story… ☺

When I woke this morning the first thought in my mind was to find a rock and pitch it at Tantor, thus instigating a foot race I could not even possibly win. But here I am, right before breakfast, challenging Tantor to a race.

While the African elephant can not actually run/gallop they can “speed walk” at speeds up to 15.5 MPH (40 Km per hour) but only for a maximum of about 1/4 mile (0.4 Km) before they need to rest.

However their average walking pace (that they can hold for 3-4 hours at a time) is 4.5 MPH (7.25 Km per hour)

Tarzan’s view of elephants: Bet you can’t kill just one.

It’s not recommended to boink an elephant with a rock, especially on the proboscis, as this tends to make them disgruntled, even cranky.
