Suddenly, the lion puts his claws around Tarzan’s neck and tells the apes to move away or else he’ll let Tarzan have it! And then, holding Tarzan as hostage, he takes him and the other guy to his den which is surrounded and protected by his henchlionesses, and proceeds to devour them.
I watched a video one time where the female lions were driven away from there kill by hyenas. A few moments later a male, who heard the activity, came blowing in, The hyenas attacked him, but the lion picked out one of the pack and ran him down and killed him. The lion then turned and looked around as if to say who’s next. The hyenas split.
I do believe Numa is outmatched 4 to one, unless he has reinforcements hiding in the bush nearby. Anyone for refreshments, there is yellow drool on the menu…and it’s free!
I’m sorry, but those stakes look so flimsy, I’m sure that Tarzan could break them just by doing the old bench pectoral fly. I mean, with thews like that, even two-by-fours would crack.
“A fight unparalleled in jungle history”? Maybe in a bad way. Four apes against one lion? I don’t expect the jungle to be fair, but let’s not overhype it.
Lions tend to avoid confrontations with multiple antagonists – one on one is more to their liking, as the hyena encounter indicates. Several may take on an individual, like a cape buffalo, but if the buffalo is able to rejoin the herd, the lions will NOT attempt to take them all on. Three have been seen to attempt to take a female giraffe, but she had her calf to defend, and drove them off, injuring two with her deadly front hooves, used like slashing clubs with astonishing speed and power.
