Let's meet hipsters! Principal distinguishing feature: dorky headgear. Older brother's grunge-era castoffs. Tattoos duh. Props used on mass transit. Molly Ringwald's Reagan-era knock-off. Tall and gangly, short and chubby. Couldn't get laid back inthe midwest; now considered hot. Their cultural signifiers: the 80's. Important! Unlike their 1950's namesakes, modern hipsters are willfully awkward, insular adn adhere to strictly limited social codes. (Man: But then: hipsters aren't hip?!) (Woman: How ironic!)
