Sent 2 kitten up to Best Friends last night to get fixed and have shots. They will come back tomorrow morning.

On July 6 the person in KY that I have talked about for the past 6 weeks is sending the 4 or 5 kittens out here via a pet transport service. She just cannot find any rescue organization to help with spays / neuters so we agreed that if she can get them out here, we would do it and get them adopted. The downside is they only drive as far as Las Vegas so we have to drive down there and pick them up. They wanted a home address for us and since we don’t have one, I gave her the address of a Buffalo Wild Wings place right off of I-15. We won’ know the arrival time until they are almost there so I think we might have to go down and spend the night somewhere. I’m not happy about this but it is what it is.

On Tues night Susan rescued a mama and 4 very, very sick babies. Not sure how many, if any, will make it. At the same time, she got another litter of extremely ill babies and was going to try to get the mama and remaining 2 babies last night. I offered to foster one group but she said they are all too sick for me to handle. So, she will take care of them all until they are well enough to come here.

Finally, something is going on around here that we can’t explain. The little black boys that I have are not getting bigger or gaining much weight. They are now close to 11 weeks and look like they are 6 weeks. They play, eat, poop, drink, run, etc. Another foster mom is having the same issue with some of her babies. And, while at the van last night, 2 women from a rescue group drove up. I wanted to them that I made new table cloths for them and mentioned the lack of growth for the kittens. Lynn said they have the same thing going on with one of their litters.

We find this very odd. Has anyone every dealt with this? By now these kittens should have been big enough to get fixed and go out for adoption. But at just over 1.5 pounds, they are not big enough.

Update on Precious. She has the beginnings of kidney problems. They will keep her for the next there days on fluids and change the antibiotic. The indicators in her blood are the ones that show up first so if we caught it in time the prognosis won’t be so bad. Years ago I had a cat that had kidney problems. One type in on kidney and a completely different type in the other kidney. They gave her 6 months to live but she fooled us all and lived 14 more years. That is one reason I am hanging on to any and all good news about Precious. If they get the bleeding in her kidneys to stop, get her hydrated and make sure there isn’t anymore infection we’ll have to decide what course of treatment to take then. I know I’m a basket case, but my babies are all I’ve got. Please continue the prayers and good thoughts. It is going to be awfully lonely around here with her at the vets for three days. Buster can’t figure out just what is going on. If anything changes, I’ll let everyone know. Thank you all for your support. It means the world to me.

It’s a struggle being a kitten…...

QueenDang, if only we still lived in Las Vegas! And the only person I know who could help is back East visiting for the summer.I agree, she could afford a pet “transfer”, but couldn’t pay for S or N? You are such an angel, a real one!

PamKidney troubles are common for cats, but the Vets have a whole lot of things they can do for it. They kept Toshie alive for almost 3 more good years. I am praying that Precious will respond to any and all treatments.Hugs from me.

@Queen of AmericaI had a precious little black kitty we called Satin as in the material, not satan the devil. We called her that because she had such smooth soft glossy fur. She never got very big and was only about 3 lbs when she had her first (and only) litter of 3. We kept one of her daughters, also black, whom we named Silk, and she never got over 2.5 lbs. We had her fixed before she could have any kittens, because one of Satins kittens died and I truly think it was just a failure to thrive due to its small size. We had a vet come out to tend to a bull, and he checked them over and said he was amazed she had managed to have any and that the two who remained were so healthy. He pronounced all 3 fit as a fiddle. My sister took Satins little boy and DID name him Satan, but he was a lover not a little demon and she doted on that little boy. My girls lived 14 years for Satin, and 13 for Silk. I think Silk would have lived longer but she just missed her mother too much and she passed away about 4 months after Satin did. They were absolute loves and I miss them still. Some cats are just small but take HUGE places in your heart and lives. Even my husband grieved and he was not necessarily a cat lover, but he adored those two. I hope this is the case with your boys as well.

I talked to Susan a while ago and she said she got a few of the sick babies to actually lick up a bit of wet kitten food. Considering the shape these babies are in, this is a miracle.

A few of them are being stubborn about drinking but she’s managing to get KMR down with a syringe.

I think I’ve just found Oliver and Jack!..

Our last little girl, Toshie never got over 4 pounds. I got her at the Humane Society and her litter mates were all big strapping males. She was hanging on the side of the cage, yelling at us. She lived 19 years, the last 2 with kidney failure. Sigh……

Love today’s comments. QOA…Susan is amazing!!!! Just reading what many of you do to help save and then find homes for kittens/cats is just the most wonderful thing ever. Dale and Kristen were tiny litter mate sisters when adopted. Kristen grew to be a BIG cat….like a Maine Coon, while Dale stayed petite. I had to warn my son whenever I saw Kristen about to launch herself onto his lap because when she landed it could be painful (LOL), especially for a man.

Such a special strip today! Gosh, so much sad and anxious news here, I am just sending many many positive thoughts to all.

I am heart sick over a news story I saw today. A woman (Who was a vet) put her smiling picture on FB holding a dead orange tomcat by an arrow through it’s head with a title “My first kill with a bow and arrow” She then went on to say the only good feral cat was a dead one and said she should get a veterinarian of the year award for killing this poor animal. It turned out it was somebody’s pet. It made me sick. She should lose her license at least. I hope she burns in hell. Excuse my language

I got the playpen for the kittens today. It’s going to work out great. I had them in there for a while before it was bedtime. There’s room for them, a small litter box, a small bed, toys, food and water. Will post pics tomorrow.

Re: cats with kidney issues. I’ve had three cats with kidney problems over the past 5 years, and my vets gave us RenAvast pills to help. Twice a day to mix one either with wet food or water. The calico cat would remind me with meows right around pill time at 9 pm and not let up until I gave her the medicine. She liked drinking it from a syringe. She passed away in March this year. The current cat eats it in the am in canned food but doesn’t want to take it at night by syringe. Takes 2 of us to do it. But it seems to help. Just thought I’d mention it for those cats having kidney problems.

I found that vet behavior revolting. Glad to hear she’s no longer working with animals. She sure wouldn’t see My Crew.
