I don’t remember how much I have told here about my accident where the deer ran into my car and my adventures with getting my car fixed and driving this really nice rental car. The accident happened on May 24th at around 8:30 PM. My driver’s door was smashed so it wouldn’t open. My fender was dented and the headlight cover broken. It didn’t do the deer any good either. Well, being the holiday weekend, I just borrowed a car from one of my brothers for the next 4 days and after the weekend was over, I got approval from my insurance company for a rental car which I picked up on May 30th. I expected to have the rental for about 2 weeks. But the auto body guy was so swamped with work (lots of deer collisions recently), it took a lot longer than that for him to get to my car. I am allowed up to 30 days for the rental car and it was getting awfully close to that deadline and my car still was not done. The insurance company even called me last week asking if I was still in the rental car and they were clearly not happy to hear that I was. Yesterday (Tuesday) was my 28th day in the rental and since I could not arrange to get it returned today, I had to return in Tuesday. I had been promised my car would be fixed by 2:00 on Tuesday. So I did get the rental returned and when I got home from doing that, I had a message on my answering machine that my car was ready to pick up. It looks great – just like new. So I’m happy to have my car back (I sure loved that rental car though). But the insurance company is not pleased they had to pay for 28 days of a rental car. Such is life!
