Winter has been fairly quiet, AC has been largely content to patrol his territory making sure there are no untoward/dangerous things out there. His interactions with the Canada Lynx have been largely civil and not unfriendly.
Inside the house, however, he continues to rule with the Iron Paw.
We recently found that the ducks had successfully hatched no less than 7 ducklings. It’s still way too cold for the little guys in the shed where they were born so they have been bought into utility area of the kitchen where they are caged and being raised.
Felix, AC’s lieutenant (and a little punk of a cat if ever there was one – but AC has to work with what materials he has available) would really, really, like to get at those birds and kill them all. He tries on a daily basis.
Without fail, every time, AC intercepts him and rather forcefully points out to Felix the errors in his thinking that he can kill and eat other members of what AC designates as his own family and responsibility.
So far, Felix has managed to put his ears back on after getting them adjusted by AC.
AC also actively prevents Felix from persecuting a couple of local cats who are homeless.
Skunks – we have a suspicion that the surviving two are either dead or hibernating in the basement. We’ll find out come Spring. No doubt, if they’re still around, AC will welcome them into the family once more.
We’ve concluded that AC would make an excellent UN Secretary General. In one of his earlier lives he must have been a heck of a Roman provincial governor.
