Birds gotta fly. And ducks gotta swim. While I was yanking weeds from my garden Tuesday afternoon, I heard a “quack, quack” and I saw a duck fly in and splash around in the puddle in the soybean field that’s by my garden. There’s no actual lake around – just a nice big puddle which the duck found appealing.
Stay Out of the Sun Day. Sorry, I need to finish weeding my garden. I’m almost done (finally) and I hope to finish enough today to do my annual video of my garden.
National Chocolate Wafer Day. I like them, but don’t currently have any in the house.
National Eat Your Beans Day. The beans in my garden are blooming, but it’l be a couple weeks before I can start picking. I guess I’ll have to eat some canned beans.

I took Lovebug back to the vet on Tuesday. We usually see Dr. Abby. but this time, for the first time, we saw Dr. Chad. And he noticed something that neither of the other 2 vets who have seen her seemed to notice. Dr. Abby did tell me that Lovebug’s right eardrum is ruptured. And the other vet who saw Lovebug just a couple weeks ago or so and saw no sign of ear infection told me that she has a heart murmur (I don’t remember if Dr. Abby mentioned that before or not). I discovered that Lovebug doesn’t blink in her right eye. As a result of not blinking, she has developed an ulcer in the right eye. When she was at the vet for her last check, the vet didn’t see the ulcer, but it’s back and I could see it clearly today. So she is back on the Terramycim ointment for that eye. But Dr. Chad noticed that Lovebug seems to have no feeling in the right side of her face. He used the stick end of a Q-Tip to gently poke her all around the right side of her face and she showed no signs of feeling it. He told me her right eardrum is “completely ruptured” while I got the impression from Dr. Abby weeks or months ago it was ruptured, but maybe not that completely. Dr. Chad also saw a lot of clear fluid in the right ear, which he found very concerning. He said we may be dealing with something more than just a recurring ear infection. Possibly polyps in the ear and yes, possibly my worst fear (something I’ve been worried about from the start) – possibly even a brain tumor. We’re trying the Baytril in her ear again and hoping that clears it up again as it has before, but I’m worried about this. She seems to be getting worse with each day (starting Sunday when I first noticed she wasn’t acting like herself). Now she is crying out a lot as if in pain. She’s turning tight circles (just like Heidi did before being diagnosed with a brain tumor) and she’s having trouble eating. She’s back in the “hospital” (my downstairs bathroom) so she doesn’t try going upstairs and then falling downstairs.

I would like to fly away from this crazy week. Our big snow year in the mountains kept everyone except the skiers away but the 4 day holiday with the roads and campgrounds now opening up are bringing unprecedented numbers of tourists with their illegal fireworks and rude behavior. 4 fatalities already this week from idiots crossing the double yellow.

He stayed in the Navy for 25 yrs, married me, who is 10 yrs older, and gained a step daughter who is 10 yrs younger than him
MY parents didn’t want me to get married EVER. Our whole first month (in Texas, where Dale was stationed) she wrote me every day telling me that they do nothing but cry and why did I leave them and why don’t I come back home. I always told Dale, he saved me from the loony bin!
