I had some bad news yesterday. My friend, Julia, is in the hospital. Yesterday was supposed to be our day for our ladies lunch at the food court in the mall. It was my turn to bring dessert. We always meet once a month, at 11:30 in the morning . I have the longest drive, so I’m always the last one there. Well, I got there at about 11:33 and nobody else was there. I kept double checking the date and yes, I had the right day. I called Julia a little before noon and got her answering machine. I gave up a little after 12:00 and went home. My other friend (we’re down to 3 of us now. There used to have 10-12 of us), Linda called later in the evening to tell me she got the day mixed up and she thought it was Tuesday we were getting together. But she had the bad news about Julia. Julia’s son, Mark called Linda and told her that on Sunday, Julia’s heart stopped. They got her heart going again, but she is in the hospital and I have had no more word on how she is doing, but it sure doesn’t sound good. Especially since she told us last month that 2 different doctors have told her that she is dying. I’m quite worried that this is the end for her. She has been failing for several months now. She’s been getting weak. She can’t walk very far and gets around mostly in a wheelchair. I’m really not ready to lose another friend.
