While driving to work yesterday, I saw something big and white on this pond where I often see ducks and geese swimming. When I got a closer look, I realized I was seeing swans! I couldn’t count them because I was driving, but I think there were 4 or 5 of them.
So, about my old computer (comments from yesterday) I just looked at it again. The out-of-date operating system is Windows Vista (it says that on the tower). Yep, I have all the cables properly plugged in, the power strip is plugged in and turned on. When I turn it on, I see a light blink a few times, then it goes off (I don’t remember if that is normal). The monitor light comes on and it’s blue. The screen says “No signal” then the light turns yellow/orange. I think it is supposed to stay blue while the monitor is running, but I don’t remember for sure. When I put a CD in it, I hear it spin, but nothing shows on the monitor. I just realized it has a couple USB ports on the front (the connections in back for the printer, monitor, etc are the big plugs with the little screws to tighten them in place), so I just now tried putting a thumb drive in one of those USB ports. I have this cute little Hello Kitty thumb drive. When I stuck that in, her head lit up, then turned off again. When I plug that thumb drive in this computer, her head stays lit and I hear the 3 little beeps that it always makes when it detects something plugged into the USB port. It didn’t beep on the other computer. So, I don’t know if I have a problem with the mother board, or if the monitor is not working. I was going to try another old monitor that I have, but I didn’t have the right cable to plug it in to the tower. I MIGHT have another monitor to try – one with a USB connection. That might be worth a try. But I just don’t know. But I suspect the problem is in the tower or operating system more than the monitor. I figured I would have to take it to Madison Computer Works to get the stuff off it and that it would cost a good deal of money, but I was grasping at straws here to see if anyone had any thoughts what might work or how to transfer data even onto an external hard drive that I could connect to this computer.
What did the mouse do? Yesterday a rather hysterical neighbor came over after seeing a snake under her trashcan. It was the cutest little king snake, less than a year old, and very cuddly. She ran from me when I picked it up. I would have released it in my yard but I don’t want it eating the lizards I feed, so I let it go at the end of our block near the creek.
I didn’t have an AM shift today so i got to sleep in. I didn’t get up until Buddy decided that he wanted to get up. Lazy morning with comics and coffee. :)
Wonder what the mouse got thrown out for. Maybe he swiped some cheese. Mice are always doing that in cartoons. (Not so much in real life.) You’d think with all the pondering he does, Chesney would realize he should be nicer to Annie. Then maybe he wouldn’t get sent to the loading dock in the first place. Of course, that would probably never occur to him. On another note, saw eight robins while out walking today.

He’s in and out so often they should install a swinging door like the ones going into kitchens.

No, what you need to be pondering is Life, the Universe, and Everything Else! (Hint: The answer is a number greater than 40.)
