The neighbors had a sprawling 200-year-old oak tree, a hundred feet in circumference. When I got Betsy, a huge, “jock” of a cat, she spent most of the first month chasing squirrels up, down and around that tree. It really was a cat wonderland. Eventually, she figured out she was never going to catch a squirrel. No matter how fast and agile she was, they had the tactical advantage of being able to run along the bottom of the huge limbs. Squirrels!
