Is this a girl dreaming she’s painting a man painting,or a man dreaming he’s painting a girl painting?

A click-to-enlarge version, of this cropped image, can be found at the only work, by this artist, so far, to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog (yesterday). A less cropped, click-to-enlarge image can be found here.Self-portrait (link shows painting’s Wikipedia page) is shown, with a full image (similarly cropped, click-to-humongous image, found here, compliments of its Google Cultural Institute page), and described (video), by its current-location page (click image there for interactive enlargement, and Entry, Technical Summary, …, for more details).A full, different coloration, click-to-humongous image is used here (Google translated). Another different coloration, full, enlarged image, can be found here, along with a description. Another description can be found in this video, and it is discussed here. She (1609-1660) indeed was a contemporary of Rembrandt (1606-1669); but, unsure how often their paths crossed. The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories at each level, including one with currently 6 images, 3 pointed to earlier, related to this painting).First work, by this artist, to appear here.

“So this is your official portrait with your Grammy-winning fiddle? Then I’ll minimize your enormous schnozz – for posterity!”(What an artist! This is a technical tour de force. She did NOTHING wrong, in fact).

I’ve seen this painting in person as it is displayed at the National Gallery of Art. A fantastic museum and one I am so privileged to have nearby. Plus its free! Whee!
