“Gentlemen, we’re just waiting for Donald Trump Jr. to get here, and we can start the meeting. Mr. Putin, are you and your advisors comfortable?”

Since this is an anti-slavery convention, I doubt many Trump/Putin types of the day showed up. By the way, the date of the convention is 1840; the painting is 1841. Not your average living-room piece: it’s 117 in. × 151 inches. More at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Anti-Slavery_Convention, including a hover-over version that identifies some participants.

2 URLs (copy each as one line):

    https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Anti-Slavery_Society_Convention,_1840_by_Benjamin_Robert_Haydon.jpg

(best viewed by Google Chrome, which can automatically translate most webpages as necessary) has info and links that point to info about this painting, along with a description.

    http://www.avictorian.com/Haydon_Benjamin.html

    has info about the artist.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #1758 (July 24, 2017) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment; so, I won’t point to it here. The first URL has a clearer image of the painting (I think Mr. Melcher started with a smaller image which got somewhat pixelated in the enlargement process).
