When I first saw that girl in the painting, / I must tell you, I came close to fainting. / She looks so much like me / that my family tree / and I soon need to be reacquainting. /// I must have her or never find peace; / I believe I’m her great great grandneice. / Back in the museum, / the guards, when I see ‘em, / they have threatened to call the police. /// They all claim that I’m mad and obsessing / over art I’ve no chance of possessing. / At my sanity hearing / I will wear one pearl earring, / and in blue and gold headscarf be dressing.
