This must be that “rustic cavalry” I’ve heard so much about

The clown who led the attack/

Was beheaded by Austrian flak/

So we followed his horse/

For the rest of the course -/

And half of us never came back.

The casualty rate was insane:/

We charged over open plain!/

No cover at all/

Every dang cannonball/

Terminated a living brain..

And after the battle had ended/

The few who survived were commended/

And as a reward/

(Which could not be ignored)/

Their enlistments were promptly extended.
