John Lennon had a sore throat during the recording of that song. Rather than cancel the (expensive) recording session, he recorded it anyway. Interestingly, even as a 6 year old, I remember thinking it sounded like he had a cold or something by the straining of his voice. I only learned decades later that he was, indeed, sick. LOL
