Man: I'm finally gonna get that giant screen TV I've been wanting! Brutus: I thought you couldn't afford it? Man: I've got it all figured out... Man: If I skip my electricity and cable bills for the next three months, I'll have enough to buy the new TV!
The joke would have worked better and made more sense had Brutus been the one to utter the joke. He after all is the “loser.” I think where Chip Sansom often goes wrong in the strip is he takes the focus off Brutus, who is the title character. Chip, Brutus is the “loser,” focus on his being the loser.
