Brutus: I'm conducting a little experiment regarding perceptions. Brutus: Do you see this glass as half full or half empty? Hurricane Hattie O'Hara: Both... Hurricane Hattie O'Hara: The bottom half is full and the top half is empty!
Actually, the glass appears to be half-emptied. It looks like it is being consumed, or is evaporating, and thus becoming empty. If more were being poured in, it would be half-filled. Full and empty are like a vacuum or pregnancy — there is no “half.”
