New Math is how the government explains how tax cuts for the 1% benefits the 99%.

I remember when New Math came out. Have always had enough trouble with Old Math!

I didn’t have any trouble with math. I won awards in school. Now this common core is completely different. And useless.

I’m glad I don’t teach math, I’ve seen the new math and it seems like allot of extra work to accomplish the same goal.

As long as Wilberforce doesn’t have to use fuzzy math, He should be fine.

    There’s another new math?

He’s using a mechanical calculator. I don’t think he’s the right guy to ask.

New math, isn’t that the one: “Joe has 2 apples, Alice has 3 apples. What color are the apples?”

Didn’t we all at times. However, he did not say no to his son. He will make best efforts, as always. And if worse comes to worse, he has an old fashioned adding machine on his desk to assist him. AND it leaves a hard copy that does show his work…..

New math is an excellent example of how the powers that be are unable to leave well enough alone.

New math. Something thought up by college professors,(bunch of white tower math geeks who forced it on a nations children who neither wanted or needed it) which was in fact, according to both of my younger sisters who had to take it, was a total waste of time because it was totally useless in the real world. Apparently it did not last very long either as none of my kids got it. By the time they were in school, it was no longer taught.

The math is not new. The calculations are the same as they always have been. It’s the new approach to teaching math that has changed. Unfortunately, I could teach my kids how to solve algebraic problems, but I could never understand the method their teachers used\required for proofing the work.

What was the new math supposed to be? 1 + 1 has always been 2.

You can’t just add two numbers any more. This is the twenty-first century – you have to understand their feelings about being added, and listen to their thoughts about the other numbers in general.

I had a Math teacher that would give 1/2 credit if your work and order of operation was correct, but you just made a calculation error. I liked him, and I learned more from him about math than anyone else. I don’t know nothing about no new math.

It’s Common Core now. If it was a 2 step process before, its now 15 steps.
