Generally speaking, in cases like this, trust the cat. Friends of mine who owned a fancy “georgian” mansion in Cambridge, Mass. had a cat who was given to staring at walls. Turned out that the house had brass plumbing, fancy but a bad idea, as with age, the zink elements in the alloy can be dissolved by infinitesimally-acidic soft water, and water can escape through microscopic pinholes. Which is what the cat was hearing.

Or maybe Ginger, with her wicked sense of humor, was trying to trick Lennie into staring at a hole in the floor.

Good imagination………and it is just imagination! But at least we know where you and your cat are.

With our cats, if it moves it gets pounced on
In the case of the biker chick, that may not be the best approach

Moke will stare at the ceiling. Remindes me of the physiological study – one person looks up, then all will look up to see what it is.
