Several years ago the San Jose Mercury News ran an article expressing surprise that today’s students, despite being completely comfortable with modern computing devices, were showing no interest in computer engineering or computer science. The only thing about the article that surprised me was that the author was surprised. American parents continue to raise their kids to be lawyers and MBAs, not engineers. Who wants their kid to be a “nerd”?

Which is why we’re getting totally pwned by the Russians and Chinese.

A kudos to Greg Cravens for hitting the nail on the head, with humor.

Turn it off. Unplug. Wait 30 seconds. Turn on. That’s all I know on how to fix. Hope our IT Guy knows more..Poor Frank.

At least they are raising their kids right. Even the youngest knows about the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. But it might be time for a new monitor.

I know a lot of families who encourage their kids to become a variety of engineers.

… and I still think it’s funny that so many people are convinced how well they know computers… but mean ‘programs’ or ‘sites’.

I repair computers for a living. This is so-o-o-o true! People who claim to know computers are complete dunces.

Always remember the ID-ten-T error. Write it out. ID10T.

Static? How can you get static on a monitor screen? He must have confused his monitor with a TV screen.

This is all too true! In the comic “The Big Picture” today, serious computer problem, the panic and the solution.

Just be glad the screen isn’t blue.

My husband is excellent with computers. For better or for worse, everyone in my family and his family always expects him to fix their computer problems.

“Hi there guys! This is Eddie, your shipboard computer and everything is going along just tickety-boo!”

The screen’s all static? Try a fabric softener sheet. : )
