This is one of those things that invariably is found to be mostly true. Rarely have I ever had the great fortune to be in a fast moving line. Usually when I show up at the checkout, people in line suddenly “remember something they forgot”, the card terminal has a problem or the senior using it is having problems with their card. Then the three people in front of me are paying by check, then the cashier either has an issue and needs to summon the manager or change the paper roll in the printer, which should take under a minute, but today is taking 3 minutes, meanwhile your ice cream has melted.
