THIS is what “organized sports” for kids has done. Geez! Get a ball, a bat, a glove, or a bigger ball and find two trees to be goalposts and a few kids and go out and PLAY BALL!!!!!
I watched three kids spend all morning making up the rules to a game. They stopped for lunch. After lunch I asked if they wanted to spend time playing the game they worked so hard to figure out. Nope, they lost interest. It turns out that making up the game WAS the game.
