I’ve already written off all the money I paid in to Social Security. It’s the U.S. Government’s property, not mine, so I have no say in what happens to it.
If the money were in Wall Street, what little of it is left would at least be my property.
When i heard the weed say that, I thought, “How stupid is that? What happens if all the deregulation brings on a recession or another depression? Then what?”
And what was being proposed back in ‘05 or whenever was to create the option to put one’s SS money into private investment accounts. That’d give folks the opportunity to possibly fetch a higher return on their SS investments than the 2% or less return that the govt mis-managers generated. Or actually more like 0%, since SS will be out of money by the time I retire.

I can’t wait for Social Security, so I can get some of the money that I earned and gave the Govt. and then just send it all back to them in taxes.
