The General: That was a great mental roadtrip in your Caddy this morning, Dusty. Thanks! Dusty: Anytime. Anytime. Boone: Did you gents notice that it's almost noon on April 1st and none of us has had an April Fool's joke played on us? The Professor: Right you are, Boone! Dusty: Let me tell you somethin', boys... a feller would have to get up mighty early to fool this old cowboy! The General: Whoa, Dusty!! Looks like the joke's on you! The Professor: Someone's piled about 500 pounds of horse manure in your apartment. The General: Say... anybody else hear that alarm clock that rang 4 a.m.? The Professor: Now that you mention it...
I’m trying to work this out. An alarm went off at 4:00am, which would seem to suggest that the perpetrator did his dirty deed then. But Dusty would still have been in bed in the apartment and would have seen him. Therefore, the dirty deed must have been done when they were on their imaginary road trip. So why would the perpetrator need to get up at 4:00 am?
