    Apparently, after she was eviscerated by John Stewart, she left/was fired from one of the anti-reform groups she spoke for. Who knew The Daily Show’s guest chair was a sanity panel?

    lovelymajorhoople: The great thing about this strip is that if you don’t like a storyline, just wait until Monday and I’ll be off on something else. I try to keep things varied. And yes the next couple weeks are topical but after that I’m sure I’ll find something surreal to do again.

    One annoying thing about doing this strip is that sometimes I create really intricate, detailed stuff for the background, or that is going to be scaled down way too small to be read, or will be cut off by small panels. And some of those have the best jokes.

    I just did one of them. I needed some “Fox News” graphics for next week’s storyline, and put this together. Most of it will be cut off at the edges, or covered up by gigantic word balloons. But it was too good, and a little too close to the truth, not to share: http://bit.ly/170eEK

    lovelymajor the freeze isn’t part of any Obama plan, it will happen because the economy is stagnate - no increase in the cost of living index, no increase in the COLA. Health care costs on the other hand continue to rise and so the cost of medicare premiums will probably increase - unless of course we get meaningful health care reform.

    Sanity panels? As if comic strips writers didn’t have enough troubles.

    We’ve had a death panel for years. Every time the FDA forbids a desperate dying patient to try an experimental drug.

    @Fairportfan I think you’re misreading pschearer’s comment.

    I read it as a complaint that the FDA is prohibiting patients with nothing to lose from taking experimental drugs that have a very small, but non-zero, chance of helping them.

    In that way, the FDA’s drug approval panel is ensuring death by converting a (say) 0.01% chance of a cure into a 0.00% chance of a cure.

    Just my two cents, FWIW.

    In today’s economy (or oeconomy, since the people in charge have been indulging their love for wine), two cents is worth about 1 3/4 cents.
