@Ima (yesterday):.Look to your own faults, not those of others. Why shouldn’t a man marry someone he wants to and not someone he’s told to?

Update: Appointment at Wills Eye hospital yesterday. The vision loss is permanent. Not sure where this leaves me.

Yow! What kind of loss? James Thurber and Dik Browne (feels weird to lump those two together) used to work huge after their eyes got very bad, but they still had eyesight. Computers make it easier to zoom way in. Ideas count more than draftsmanship in a strip like this.

But sympathy on the loss. I wince at the thought of it.

I may be wrong, and not to defend the Mittster, but I believe the $77K was a deduction, not a flat credit; i.e. it came off his income, not his payment.

@pschearer: Is it not possible to say “differ ideologically” rather than “ideological enemies?” Seems to me that thinking of other Americans as “enemies” because they have somewhat different ideas is a key part of the failure of modern civil discourse.

And I was so sad to see Pab’s comment and go back and read the rest of the story. Glad that you were able to be seen at Wills after all the insurance/MRI difficulties, but so sorry that they were unable to reverse the damage. Best wishes.

Pab! HUGS! Do get a second opinion. If you have a tumour and it is removed, the human body can do a lot to heal itself. HUGS!

Pab, sad news. We do care. I agree with getting a second opinion. Sending good thoughts.

Pab, let me add my best wishes for a positive outcome. I know you’ve been fighting a tough battle, and it certainly has not been an easy year for you. But don’t get too discouraged. As you know, you have a lot of good friends and well wishers among your readers, myself included.

“My wife got a tax rebate that’s greater than what you make in a year, for her dancing horse!” This is why people who work for a living can’t identify with Mittens.

Pab: I’m sorry to hear about your condition. However, there have been cases where a “permanent” condition turned out not to be one; you should certainly get a second opinion.

Re: Dressage is the sport of the rich.

A friend of mine who is the sales manager at a small software company and whose daughter is nationally ranked in her age group in dressage would disagree with you.

It’s true of symphony orchestras, too, but there’s still a rush on to defund them.
