Snowpocalypse!

It was down in the 40’s (F) in Tampa FL yesterday. From the way my friends down there were screaming, you’d have thought that the world was ending.

I’m listening to the news and they are outlining how we are all gonna die unless we hide in our basements with emergency equipment. It is as if it never snowed before.

To all my friends up in the Virginia and Wash. D.C. area, stay warm and dry and inside with a good book and a bottle of good single malt scotch !.

Geez, it snows in winter! I’m shocked! Shocked!

I just spent $1,000 on a new set of snow tires, rims, and TPMS widgets for my new Subaru. It’s 18f outside right now, but the actual snow level is pretty much nill on the roads. There’s 4’ drifts against my fence and satellite dish post in the back yard, but that’s another matter.

The sad bit is I’m flying to DC on the 31st for a couple of days and am not looking forward to it, not even a bit.

I obsessively watch snow forecasts, not due to a feeling of DOOM, but excitement and glee!

Remember how, as kids, we’d rush to the radio, and eagerly await the school closing reports ?

to some people, 3 inches are huge. to others, 3 inches is to be laughed at.

Here in southern Virginia, places were closing early yesterday because flurries were falling. We got maybe 1/8 of an inch.

Here in Northern Virginia, we’re expecting to get hit with two feet (610 mm) of snow by Saturday, and I’m the one who’ll be shoveling it. Also, we live in one of the areas where the snowplows go last.

A forecast of three inches (76 mm) would be cause for joy right now.

My mother lives in Charlotte, NC and they are expecting 3" – things fall apart up there with just snow, and they’re also expecting ice.

…. will admit that I get the giggles @ CNN’s liberal use of the term “Storm of the Century”. In Canada, we just call that Thursday. :P

Do those eyes indicate this will be a nuclear winter?

It’s like they’ve filmed our local weather man! It’s uncanny!

My ex-girlfriend moved to Austin Tx after living in New York for 10 years. She tells me, that the entire city shuts down if there is a dusting on the ground.

DC froze Wednesday night over an inch of snow; I understand the weather contributed to a fatal traffic accident in the burbs. Can’t wait for Snowmageddon 2016, coming this weekend to a mid-Atlantic state near you (or certainly near me)! Won’t be going anywhere for a few days from the sound of things. Hope we don’t lose power.
