Depends on where you live. I’ve never had a problem finding one.

Don’t you live in South Jersey? There’s your problem right there.

“Space is big. REALLY big. You may think it’s a long way down the street to the chemist, but that’s just PEANUTS to space…”

“Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly 90 million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they STILL think digital watches are a pretty neat idea!”

… And pray that there’s intelligent life somewhere out in space, ‘cause there’s bugger-all down here on Earth!

Mos Eisley Spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. But they have the best Chinese restaurant for more than than 12 parsecs.

There is an article in this month’s Scientific American that says that intelligent life may be exceedingly rare even given the vastness of the universe. “We are here because of a long chain of implausible coincidences…” If we are alone, we are well on our way of destroying something rare and wonderful.
